Halloween
A drawing challenge where I made myself Burtonesque.
And then just ended up dressing like it for Halloween.
Well without the cool skirt-cage thing, would have been wicked!
Happy Halloween Everybody!! :)

Master Animation Copy
After graduating from animation college I realize that I haven't been animating on my own at all. I draw a lot and I mean A LOT, that's all I do, why? Because I haven't had a goal in mind, something to work toward. When I graduated with my 2D animation degree they told me that I needed to animate a lot more, that I wasn't as good as I was supposed to be, this angered me because I had about five animation classes out of the 30 drawing classes. So of course I'm going to be really good at drawing and only so-so at animation.
This is where the brilliant idea comes in: When you're an illustrator and you're not as good as the greats what do you do? An Illustration or Painting Master Copy! It is a tradition that goes back centuries. And I'm going to convert it to 2D animation.
Challenge
Choose a sequence animated by a master animator.
Find the keys and breakdowns, plan it out like the master animator would.
Then animate using the original master animators sequence as a guide, while learning the 12 principles of animation as a result.
I'm going to change the character, not too different from the original so that there won't be added animation but just enough so that I'll be focussing more on how it works rather than copying.
So here we go~
Master Animation Copy
Weekly Challenge: Start Monday - Due Sunday
I'll have to hurry a little since I'm starting this on a wednesday.

Griffin
Every time I need to listen to something as I go to sleep, I turn on The Invisible Man: Special Edition on Netflix. The film's star is Claude Rains, he is my favorite invisible man because he inhabits his character. He lives and breathes Griffin, he understands the fear this character has and also the lust for power. The theatrical way he reads his lines matches the larger than life attitude the invisible man feels, he believes he is more than human, a god, "Even the moon is frightened of me!". The physical way he acts, one side of the man is trying to hold onto his sanity, you can see him rock back and forth trying to remain sane but then slowly slipping back into madness with the power he holds over the lives of men. The inner struggle is always mesmerizing to watch.
Also the look of this invisible man in this film has always fascinated me, the medical tape rapped around his head, the surgical gloves, and the robe all make perfect sense for Griffin's thinking. It's mysterious looking yet not threatening which is what he wants people to believe.
I could go on and on about this movie or you can watch it yourself, I will warn you that the rest of the actors in this movie are also highly theatrical, almost ridiculous for the purpose of being funny. And some of the villagers lines and the doctors lines are also completely ridiculous, I openly laugh while listening to it because what they say is so obvious that they don't need to say anything. I can't tell if they're making fun of the writing from the book or if it was because or the time the movie was filmed in. For whatever reason you may believe this film is bad you would not be able to blame any of it on the invisible man, Claude Rains, my first choice of invisible man, my second choice would of course be Vincent Price but my love for his invisible man is just to listen to his voice also he is typically known for understanding the darker characters.
There are so many things I can say about this invisible man...

Work and Play
So I was working on a character design for Conceptart's character of the week.
The King of Spades:
But then the line art for him started to get tedious so I started to draw some loose drawings to relax my hand and got carried away in the process because of the music I was listening to:
Did some practice work of Dracula from Hotel Transylvania in there while I was at it. The girls are fun times with the lasso tool :D Darn you 80's music "Don't you, forget about me, don't don't don't" "Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling, down, down, down" Haha
